The Disappearing Snacks

It was a nice and sunny Saturday, everyone was outside playing and staying cool. Maddie was on her way over her best friend Alice’s house. Alice and Maddie have been friends since they were 3, they have been through thick and thin together. When Maddie knocked on Alice’s front door, Alice’s little brother Toby opened the door, he is only 4 but he can be really loud.

Maddie headed to Alice’s room, on the way there she said said “Hi” to Alice’s mum. When Maddie entered the room she greeted Alice with a big hug. Alice’s room was not very clean, it hasn’t been cleaned because she’s been too busy practising her speech for the annual speech competition that is  coming up in a couple of weeks. They talked about what they were going to do together today, Alice came up with the idea to go to the movies but Maddie said it was such a beautiful and sunny day that they should not waste it staying inside.

They both decide to go for a picnic in the park. Before they could go they went to go pack  a picnic basket with snacks in it in case they get hungry. Alice’s mum decided to make special sandwiches for the girls to take with them. After they finished packing the basket they left the basket on the table and went to get their shoes. On their way to the park they saw their good friend Paige and they decide to invite her to come with them to go to the park, so off they went.

When they got to the park they laid the blanket down to sit on. When they opened the picnic  basket it was empty. They thought how could this be?! They packed all types of snacks in the basket but they weren’t in there they have disappeared. They were all really confused as to where could the food  could have gone.
They decided that they would go back to Alice’s house for a snack because they were so hungry.

When they got to Alice’s house they found Alice’s little brother Toby eating the sandwiches and all the snacks. It was all clear now Toby must have taken the snacks when they went to get their shoes. They thought it was so funny that for the rest of the day they were rolling in the floor laughing. In the end the girls realised  that they had a pretty awesome day solving the mystery of the disappearing snacks.

Rubbish is everywhere !!!

One of the biggest issues in my school is whether we should take our rubbish home or not. Rubbish causes the air to become dirty and not clean, which means that we can’t breath it in. People throw away rubbish everyday, which lead to millions of rubbish dumps all over the world.

One of the main reasons I think that is because when visitors come to visit us we can show them how much we care about the environment. We want  to show that just by keeping our school clean and rubbish free we are making a big difference not only to our school but to whole planet. We want to let others know WE can all help save the planet.

We will be able to save so much money on buying rubbish bags. In my opinion I think we will be able save so much which we can use to go to school trips, buy more sports equipment and to improve our school. It is also a is hassle for the cleaners that will have to change all the rubbish bins in the school, they already have to clean all the classrooms and the bathrooms. They do so much already this is only one of the little thing that we can help them with.

The birds is also a big part of this issue, while we are in class they come and pull out all the rubbish in the bin which is so unfair  because it is the students that will have to pick them up and put them back rather than having their play time.

Rubbish is one of the main problems not only at my school but all over the world. No-one wants to live in a world that is polluted by rubbish. We need to help our world to stop pollution and recycle.

Sleeping in

It was a rainy and windy day and it was still in bed at 8 a.m when my sister tried to wake me up. She failed miserably just like my mum who also tried to wake me up several minutes ago. When I finally got out of bed, I went into the living room where  my mum, dad, and my little sister sat. My mum was very cross with me because I woke up so late. While I was having breakfast my mum said ”when you have finished eating go and get dress because we are going to dress mart”.

While we were driving there I took a little nap, my sister on the other hand was focused on passing level 13 so she had no idea what was going on around her. When we finally got there we found a great parking that was close to the entrance. We first went to Converse to look at some shoes  that my dad wanted to get but unfortunately they didn’t have his size. The next store we went to was called Forever New they had really great clothes but sadly they were too big for me.

After we went to a few more stores my sister was getting hungry so we went to a restaurant. I had a Chicken while my sister had a beef burger. After we finished eating we went back home and  I took a nap for 4 hours.

I had a really fun day, the only thing that I didn’t enjoy was not being able to buy some clothes that I liked because they were too big for me
but, otherwise I had a great day of shopping.

Moving Pictures

In 1960 television was first introduced to New Zealand. It is a telecommunication medium for transmitting and receiving moving images. In the olden days, television had no colour only black and white. Television works  by tricking our eyes and brain.

Television was not invented by just one inventor, it took many inventors to make this magnificent creation which is used all over the world by millions of people. Some people think that television is magic but it isn’t, it is actually  just still pictures that flickers on your screen which makes it look like it is moving. Back in the days people changed the channels by using a remote that controls the television, but nowadays we can use our voice to control the volume and the channels. Children everywhere are able to learn new things in the comfort of their homes.

Everyday inventors try to invent more and more technology that will help us to make our lives easier and faster, but remember that technology isn’t everything, there is more to life than just sitting in front of the television.

A Day of Baking

When I woke up I got dressed and headed for the kitchen to make some breakfast. I looked in all the cupboards to see what I could use. I found some milk, pancake mixture and chocolate chips, with these ingredients I decided to make chocolate chip pancakes.

I took two cups of pancake mixture and two cups of milk and mixed it until it was nice and smooth with no lumps. When it was the perfect consistency, I added the chocolate chips. When I finished cooking the pancakes I placed it on table so my parent can taste them if they wanted to.

In the afternoon I decide to make some red velvet cupcakes with a cream cheese frosting. My mum and dad decided to take a nap because they were really tired. I was going to make cup cakes with no supervision. The instructions said to preheat the oven for 180 degrees. I followed the instruction and then I mixed all the ingredients into a bowl. While I was mixing the mixture, the smoke alarm went off so I ran to the oven to check to see if it was on fire. It wasn’t but it was just full of smoke inside the oven so I called my dad to turn it off. A few minutes later it went off again, I got really annoyed at it so I took it outside and left it there. The cupcakes took 25 -30 minutes to cook. When the cupcake have cooled down, I put the frosting on top of it and also added some sprinkles.

I really enjoyed making red velvet cupcakes and chocolate chip pancakes. They were really delicious.

Boredoom

On Saturday I stayed in bed until 10 in the morning because it was really cold and my blanket was really warm and cozy. When I finally got out of bed, I went into the kitchen to get some cereal for breakfast, some toast and hot chocolate. While I was eating I went online for a few minutes. When I finished, I went to my room to get some clothes because I was going to take a hot shower.

I went to the living room to watch some T.V, then I got really bored so I decide to finish my homework. By this time I was super bored. So I decide to take a nap. When I woke up it was 1 in the afternoon. I was really hungry so I made some lunch, I made a sandwich and had it with some orange juice. When I finished I went online again to check my email.

I was online until 6 pm, then I read a book until dinner. I had pork for dinner and then I  got  dressed for bed. Then I went to the living room to watch ‘X factor New  Zealand’. When it was finished I went to bed.

I really don’t want to experience another day of being really bored and having nothing to do.
